Protecting yourself from falls on snow and ice is a survival skill in winter.

The use of shoe or boot mounted traction devices is a great way to insure that you avoid injury when working, walking, running, or just going to the mailbox across a snowy or icy surface. I've used this myself starting this winter and have found them very useful.

I used a pair of these for the back-to-back blizzards in February of 2010 in Maryland and found the traction excellent when shoveling and cleaning my vehicles. Later, I even took a walk in these to see how reliable they function and find them perfect for this purpose.
